We not only create page layouts from scratch to designer specifications, we also refine designer-formatted pages using our innovative typographic fine-tuning service. Either way, Moveable guarantees that the final product will be error-free and will meet the highest typographic standards. And our acclaimed proofreading department ensures that the content is readable, unambiguous and consistent.

This division specializes in corporate communications, and has provided typesetting, proofreading and copy editing services for hundreds of annual reports, including those for major corporations like Bank of Montreal, Bell Canada Enterprises, Telus, Thomson Corporation, Onex, New York Life, Noranda, Barrick, Imax, Loblaw, Imperial Oil, Dynamic Funds, Sherritt, Weston, and many more.

At Moveable, formatting a page means much more than pouring keystrokes into a template. We consider this to be just the first step in the process of building an accurate and professional-looking document. Once the keystrokes are in place our typesetters apply custom kerning tables, adjust line breaks, minimize hyphenation, eliminate widows, check for proper alignment of elements in tables, and ensure consistency of style throughout the document.
 
The pages are then meticulously examined by two proofreaders working independently. Their job is not only to catch errors, but also to make copy editing suggestions when they encounter poor grammar, awkward phrasing or inconsistencies. Their observations are brought together in a final mark-up (on average, more than 80% of our suggestions are taken by the client). The proofreaders also review the quality of the typography and work with the typesetters to make appropriate improvements.
 
At the conclusion of this process, which usually entails several passes between typesetters and proofreaders, we deliver clean, composed pages, together with proofreaders’ comments for the client’s consideration.
 
Once the English document is in good shape, we often use it as a template to create a French version (and sometimes other languages too). These documents are also proofread and fine-tuned, with particular attention to French typesetting and word break conventions.
 
We also provide a proofreading only service in cases where the designer prefers to handle the typesetting in-house. The same rigorous, double-read process is used, except that the designer is responsible for making any changes to the file. This proofreading service has been used very effectively prior to major Web launches to ensure accuracy and consistency.
